I'm 30 wks. What could cause chest pains during pregnancy?? It's not heartburn. It's more of a sharp pain and my heart will beat really fast. I went to the doctor today for a regular check-up and I told them about it, my doctor said to call back if it happened again and he would send me for an EKG and it did so I called back, some woman called me back and told me to come talk to her tomorrow about it and counseling. I don't need conseling for chest pains! I get the feeling they don't believe me or something. What should I do???

  1. This might sound too simple, but I would highly recommend taking extra magnesium.  Magnesium is wonderful, especially when pregnant.  It will be relaxing, help you if your muscles are achy or cramping and even help you sleep at night. It sounds like you could benefit from it and it just might help the pains in your chest and I know it can calm your heart.  I have found that the brand, "Natural Calm" works really well and is easily absorbed by your body.  You can order from vitacost.com - cheaper than a health food store, but you have to wait for it to be mailed to you....

    Best of luck!

  2. I would go  back and talk to whom ever they have there. Maybe someone will listen! Good luck! It seriuosly could be the baby pushing upwards!

  3. Maybe they think you are have a mini panic attack. Some dr. are not to sensitive to our thoughts and worries. Go talk and see what the lady has to say. But if you still have that feeling, demand the EKG.

  4. im 22 weeks and i got bad chest pains and to where your heart feels like its going billion time fast

just try loosening your bra a bit

drink some water or something cold

    tilt to the side

it could be the baby hitting your ribs and pushing them

    it helps

  5. I am not sure, but i know when I was pregnant I had chest pain towards the end, because the baby is pushing everything up. It would cause me some pain when I would take deep breaths every once in a while. And it was more of a sharp pain. If it gets worse definitley go back to the doctor. if he is still beating around the bush and you really feel like something may be wrong go get a second opinion. You know your body best. But if it subsides or stays the same, I would not worry too much about it as long as everything is fine, like blood pressure etc. It could also be some anxiety. You may not even realize it or even think you are nervous, but you could have underlying anxiety and it is causing you to have some shortnesss of breath and the pain....Good Luck...

  6. Chest pain is nothing to take lightly. Go to the ER they will give you Nitroglycerin and draw some blood to check for cardiac enzymes as well as take x rays to rule out a heart condition.

  7. If you are having chest pains, go to the ER!

  8. I got them too. If it were a heart attack they would be dull pain more likely. Sharp pain is more commonly pleuritic (lung pain) probably to do with baby's position. The racing heart is totally normal toward the end of pregnancy because the hormones make your heart rate speed up and sometimes you can feel palpitations... not really dangerous unless you think you'll pass out! Good Luck!

  9. i get a sharp pain in the middle of my chest its not a burning either but its caused by heartburn take gavascon or whatever acid tablets you take and see if it helps it can also be trapped wind like you need to burp so again with the acid tablets and try to burp any chest pain should be investigated go to the local hospital and ask to be checked good luck hun
