Chest workout not working?

I have been lifting 3 times a week for a month now. I am seeing great gains in all my muscles in every exercise. That is, except for benching. I am actually getting weaker! I was with a personal trainer and he said there was nothing wrong with my form. What could be wrong?

  2. Don't do bench presses 3 times a week, it's too much and not enough rest. Try doing a light day and a heavy day but not more than twice a week. Also do about 4-5 sets working up to 6 reps using around 80% of your max.on the heavy day. You can start by warming up with a light weight for 10 reps then start with your first real set doing 6 to 8 reps. Keep increasing the weight with each set until you're doing the 6 reps with 80%.

    On your light day only work up to about 60-70%.  

  3. Patience - patience - patience.  I'd say wait at least 90 days to see noticeable results.   Why are you in such a hurry to build muscles?  Forty years from now, they will all head South anyway!
