Cheteshwar Pujara’s father hopes injury does not rule out his son
Arvind Pujara, father of the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara, hopes his son will not suffer injuries like he did in the Indian Premier League’s 2009 edition.
"In 2009, he had to undergo an operation on his ligament after injuring his left knee. That kept him out of action for six to eight months. We are praying that this isn't that severe," said the concerned father.
While attempting to save a boundary for his side, the right handed batsman injured his knee in a match against Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 that Bangalore eventually won by 9 wickets on Sunday, May, 2011.
Arvind Pujara has not met his son since he got hospitalised at Dr Mallya Hospital in Bangalore. The physiotherapists of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) are constantly examining his progress.
Cheteshwar’s teammates have left for Jaipur for their next IPL encounter against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals.
The 23-year-old was ruled out of competitive cricket for 6 months after he sustained an injury to his left knee while batting in the nets for Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The cricketer’s father is wishing that the ghost from the past does not haunt Cheteshwar just when he is expecting to find a spot in India’s Test XI, ahead of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 series.
"That year (in 2009), he was in great form, cracking triple hundreds for his state side. The timing of the injury was wrong. Hopefully, this time he'll recover soon," maintained Pujara.
The medical reports of injury are yet to arrive. Pujara hopes for his son’s recovery as he is under the care of the best physicians.
"We will know the exact state of the injury only after 48 hours because when it's an internal injury, it's hard to tell the extent without an MRI scan," Pujara elaborated.
It is learnt from sources that Cheteshwar may have to undergo a surgery, and may be exempted from playing for three months to say the least.
