Question:

Chevrolet Cobalt?

I'm looking into buying a Chevrolet Cobalt. I really like the sporty look of it, and the interior is also nice. I test drove one today, and I loved the way that it drove. It had easy steering and it was a really smooth ride.

Is there anything I need to know about these cars before I buy one? What are the pros and cons of the Cobalt? Does anyone have one? What do they like and not like about it?

Thanks!

  1. i have a 2006 cobalt and i personally love it..its just a base model ls but for the price you really cant beat it. it also gets great  gas mileage before i changed out the stock 15'' for 17'' it was averaging 35mpg so i say get one...

  2. I recommend you forgetting about buying a cobalt. With a price of a cobalt around 13,000-17,000, I would rather get a honda civic. It is alot  better on gas and it will definitely last longer. trust me. honda civic also has a better look than chevy cobalt.

  3. Please do yourself a favor and listen to most of the people here and the 47% of owners that own them who would never buy one again (worst of any car).

There are so many better cars for a similar price in this class.  Even the Ford Focus is way better.

Go to the library and check out the 2008 Consumer Reports buyers guide.

  4. If you go to Edmunds cars.com you can find out just about every thing you can think of about the Cobalt including owners reviews..........

  5. it's a Chevy Cavalier with new clothes don't buy it.

    Consumer Reports overview

    Highs: Turning circle.

Lows: Engine noise, fuel economy, driving position, seating comfort, fit and finish.

The Cobalt falls short of the best small cars. Its 2.2-liter engine is spirited but noisy and relatively thirsty. Drivers can expect just 24 mpg overall. The ride is relatively comfortable, but handling isn't agile. The steering is too light at low speeds. The rear seat is not roomy, even by small-car standards. Interior fit and finish is unimpressive. The Cobalt sedan received a score of acceptable in the IIHS side-crash test with the now-standard head-curtain air bags. Electronic stability control is optional for 2008, but only in the sport version that is priced close to the larger Malibu. The sporty SS model returns with a turbocharged engine.

    score 50 out of 100

look at  Hyundai Elantra & Mazda3

  6. If you like the way the Cobalt drives, you'll really like the Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, and Honda Civic.  They're all light years ahead of the Cobalt in performance and are more fuel efficient too.

  7. I was thinking about looking for one as my first car, but i was talking to an instructor at the driving school the other day and he said the Driver's Ed company purchased 3 Cobalts, and in all three the power steering would go out whenever someone tried to parallel park the car. This is all word of mouth however, i have no experience personally with the car. But to sum it up, my instructor said it was like a hog. " you can put cologne on a hog and make it smell nice, but its still a hog". lol
