  1. if the check engine light is on why would you change any part before having it scanned to find out the problem first?get it scanned to find the problem,go to auto zone they will do it for free.

  2. Wow, go get the free scan as stated above to properly determine the engine fault. You just wasted quite a bit of money...

Edit: No, don't take the entire vehicle there, just bring the engine,  C'mon dear, ... drive, push or pull your S-10 on down and get it diagnosed. Good Luck, and hopefully it's something minor, like a faulty sensor.

  3. Sounds like a bad positive battery terminal connection at the starter.  This is most likely what caused the loss of electrical power that made the engine die.

I agree with the previous answer.  You should have never just replaced any parts without having a diagnostic scan of the engine management computer to find the reason for the check engine light.  You can throw over a thousand dollars worth of parts at it and not hit on the actual cause of the check engine light.  I would find another mechanic.

Most major automotive parts stores will do this for free.  With what you learn for the diagnostic scan, you cna make a more educated decision on what to do next.

  4. yea, auto zone will scan it for you for free. that way you will know what it is without any guess work.

  5. Have it scanned to see what the actual problem is. Sometimes it is as simple as replacing the oxygen sensor, or getting a better gas cap. My S10 has done the same thing, and that is what I did. Works fine now.

Get it scanned and see if someone you know can do the work, or you can try if you can, otherwise pay a shop for the repair. Take the vehicle in to autozone.

  6. Sounds like a computer problem.I would take your truck to the local auto parts dealer that does free code testing like Auto Zone and see what it is.Have them recharge the battery and test the on-board computer.Good Luck
