  1. A simple compression test will show which cylinders are worn.  Blowby is caused by worn or broken rings, cracked pistons, or scratched cylinder walls.

  2. blow by is caused by faulty rings , time to rebuild the old girl.

  3. rings need replacing ,

  4. BIG BLOCKS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR VALVE GUIDES LEAKING AND THE SEALS..  ON A 396 YOU'VE PROBABLY GOT ALOT OF HOURS ON IT AND ITS GOING BY THE RINGS TOO.   EASY FIX NOW BEFORE YOU DRY IT UP UNDER A LOAD... THEN SHES AN ANCHOR...  REBUILT IT BEFORE YOU KILL IT .
