Chevy truck curiosity?

Question

when a chevy truck has Z71 what does it mean?

It has a special option package. 4 wheel drive, limited slip differential, skid plates, aluminum rims, etc...

It has offroad capabilities and more extras that the regular truck doesn't  have. Kind of a waste though..My wife has an 07 Z71 Suburban and I have an 05 Tahoe, and they drive the same, you can't tell the difference besides the grill, skidplates and rims.

The Z71 package used to NOT include the G80 (rear locking differential), but it is included on the newer trucks...

Trucks prior to 2003: It consists of skid plates for the front differential, the transfercase, and a fuel tank cover. Slightly heavier duty shocks are also part of the package. But it DID NOT include the locking differential, it was a seperate option. And the stickers on the bed sides.
