  1. It comes from a tree, not sure of the exact name.  But it's found in South America I believe.

  2. gum base was derived from various natural resins, including sorva and jelutong. Some of these ingredients, however, have become scarce in recent years, and new, synthetic gum base materials have been developed. These new materials allow for longer-lasting flavor, improve the texture, and reduce tackiness.

  3. There are some 15 or more synthetic and plant origin ingredients that makers of chewing gum can opt to use as the base for their gum.  Because it would be nearly impossible to list them on the side of a chewing gum packet, the FDA lets gum manufacturers get away with simply calling it gum base.  While in the beginning, gum was actually made from the sap of the gum tree or chicle (bush, I think that is)- which is how Chickles got their name.  Nowdays it's a sort of synthetic polymer, a kind of edible latex or chewable rubber is the easiest way to understand it.  Anyway, it's classified as a food- so the FDA does have restrictions and requirements, and they do monitor for purity.  That doesn't mean you'd find all the ingredient sources yummy, but it's sort of like hot dogs and sausages.  If you like it, eat it- and don't ask a lot of detailed questions.  Be satisfied it's safe to chew, and the dentist won't mind at all.

  4. it comes from a *** tree, i mean gum tree.

  5. It is actually made from the gum of trees (gooey sap stuff)

  6. your gonna be hearing alot more stories if your asking the world

  7. Whale Blubba! lol

  8. It's mostly a type of processed latex rubber, processed pine tree sap, flavor, sweetener, and sometimes wax.
