Chewing gum and braces?

im pretty adicted to gum, and everyone says that you shouldnt chew gum with braces... so is there any gum that i can chew? if any?

I have braces and I chew gum all the time with them! It just has to be sugarfree (which most gum is nowadays anyways!) So no gum like extra, winterfresh, juicy fruit ect. I usually chew orbit or trident. I have friends that had braces before me and they all chewed gum too and had no problem. It does not get stuck like people say, as long as it is sugarfree! =] So chew away! haha.

I was also freaking out when I was told not to chew gum.

mY orthodontist told me that i could have  sugarless because it doesnt stick so easily. But i have chewed sugar gum you just have to be careful and chew on the inside of your teeth! Dont forget to brush :P

That's not a good idea.

I was told told I could chew it as long as I keep it away from my braces. It didn't work quit so well for me.

you can have gun, you need to be really careful. make sure you chew on the inside of your teeth.

No can do if you chew gum with braces it can get stuck and you will have to go back to the ortho to get the wires out.

Ive had braces for a few years and chew things like stride,orbit, trident,

but i have chewed very sticky sugary types before too and haven't really had a problem with them. You can also eat popcorn, just don't eat the un popped kernels. =)

I think chewing gum is okay, but I think that bubble gum (or any gum that makes it possible to blow bubbles) should definitely be avoided. I think that if you stick with Orbit or Trident and gum like that, it should be alright. However, be careful.

I have braces & I chew gum all the time. You just have to be careful. As long as you don't jam the gum up between the wire & your teeth you won't have any problems. Oh yeah popcorn... you should probably listen to them about that. The kernals can get stuck in your braces. I've never had any problems with my braces except when I ran into a wall once. (lol like you've never done that.)

i just got back from the orthodontist today to get spacers and they told me that when i get my braces that i could chew only sugar free gum such as stride, trident, and orbit

When I was younger I had braces for six years and anything else you can imagine in my mouth. But I did chew the whole time and nothing ever happened.
