Did you ever hear about the teacher who siad...

"Chewing gum in school is bad for you, the teachers and the class system"

There are scary legends about chewing gum at school, it makes people turn.

Children eatting chewing gum is frowned on like children drinking tea and coffee is frowned on, particullarly at school.

Did your mother tell you that you cannot drink coffee and tea until your 18 years of age, it is precotious.

She also told you that a child would find it medically impossible to stay awake all day, all night and all day the next day (miss a nights sleep).

They also are medically incapable of listening to heavy metal music for more than 8 solid hours.

Have you even heard this?

  1. My mom never said any of those things but:

J.S. is right about why chewing gum is banned. It really bothers me because there are studies that show it can actually have a calming effect on students...but so many students just spit it out on the floor, under desks--it is too hard for teachers to monitor and the few ruin it for everyone!

My daughter was told by a naturopathic doctor not to drink any caffeinated drinks until she was 23 or so...no young adults should.  It had something to do with developing brain chemistry or something (I wasn't in the room with her and she just relayed it to me.)  Maybe your mother was right! (I've been drinking tea since I was 4..LOL.)

I think it would be hard to stay awake 36 hours without caffeine...I don't know if it would be impossible....but I think a lot of people can listen to heavy metal for more than 8 hours if they have nothing else to do.

  2. Chewing gum is banned at school because it gets stuck on the underside of desks and tables.  It gets dropped on the floor, where you stand on it, and then can't get it off your shoe.

No, I've not heard any of that stuff you wrote.

  3. Yup heard bout dis i thought only we mexican belived in dis c**p but yea true. except 4 da heavy metal stuff . Also add da cannot drink coke till ur big.

  4. Would you believe I was at an airport in Hawaii that does NOT sell chewing gum?  I asked why, and they said it had to do with keeping the environment as clean as possible.  Let's face it... kids will stick that gum under desks, in urinals, and God knows where else.  Maybe a compromise is to allow mints or Lifesavers... at least they melt away!
