Okay so i have had my top and bottom braces on since last monday and the rest of the braces were put on last friday. I had a piece of gum today and i looked like a moron trying to chew it. It actually hurt especially if it went to the side of my mouth. And i can't blow bubbles. Is this normal? And will it be like this the whole time i have the braces on? Thanks :)

  1. It might take a while to get used to chewing gum with your braces. I do it all the time. It hurt 1 to 2 weeks when I tried chewing gum with braces. It probably hurts on the side of your mouth because of your braces rubbing against your mouth and there are some cuts there or something. It will take some time to be able to chew gum and blow bubbles "normally". Hang in there!

  2. it hurts at first but if u chew it to much it lossen your brasses and it comes off and then u get in trouble and then u have to do put it on all over again then it will hurt again

i do it mabe once an week and it never broke but u cant eat it at the side of your mouth couse then it will get stuck.

    good luck

  3. Simple answer...You should not chew gum while wearing braces!  The gum can get stuck to the brackets and pull them off.  Then, you have to make an appointment to go back the the orthodontist to have them put back on.  Im sure they probably told you when you got them put on what you can and can not eat.  I know for a fact that gum is a major thing your not supposed to have!!! Just stay away from it, it will pay off in the end!!!

  4. Your just getting used to your braces. I was like that 2. make sure ur chewing sugar free gum, otherwise you'll get cavities. It just takes time to get used to them, one u do you'll be fine :)
