Cheyenne Woods happy with performance at Evian Masters 2012
American Cheyenne Woods is in much better spirits after the second round of the Evian Masters that saw the young golfer shoot a 69 — a score that speaks of her talent and skills.
Woods, who is niece of former world number one PGA (Professional Golf Association) star Tiger Woods, was more than happy after she posted a solid score in a roster awash with topflight LPGA (Ladies Professional
Golf Association) contenders.
Although she could not get off to a good start on Thursday, Woods came up with an improved form on Friday and held her head high. Carding a 71 in the opening round at Evian-les-Bains did seem to rattle the
rising star, but she was determined to boost her score in the next round.
Speaking to the media how it feels to be in contention, the American said that she is more than thrilled that she was able to post a stunning score in an event being graced by some of the most fearsome professional
stars.
Young Woods faced players like Paula Creamer, current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis, Suzann Pettersen, Maria Hjorth, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Ai Miyazato, Mika Miyazato, Na Yeon Choi, Karrie
Webb and Laura Davies.
The ambitious golfer is seeking to become a permanent member on the LPGA Tour, whereas she found a spot in the Evian Masters 2012 thanks to sponsor exemption.
Analysts said that Woods played far better than most of the experienced LPGA stars, which shows that she is keen to move ahead in professional golf.
When asked how hard it was to make a cut, young American said that she just played a natural game, and luckily, was able to post a good score to advance to the third round. I'm so excited," Woods said. "It
feels so good, one, to be out here in France, and then to play so well and finally make a cut".
She went on to say that she has improved her game quite a lot in the recent past, and now she is more confident than before. "I was hitting the ball really well. I think I hit like 15 greens. Still didn't make
a few putts here and there, but overall I was very happy with my game".
