Chiapas and Tobasco State's highway conditions?

Does anybody have any idea how long it will be to be able to drive through these states to get to the Yucatan?

  1. Chiapas Highways are OK in most of the state, Tabasco ones are OK for scuba diving. I think that in about 2 weeks you'r going to be able to drive throught Tabasco in order to get to the Yucatán Peninsula; you could drive through Chiapas, but it would take you twice the time to get to Yucatán.


  2. I don't recall the major Chiapas highways being too bad, aside from the usual drunks in the road and the occasional poorly marked spot where part of the road slid off the cliff.  And I recall people talking about bandits after dark near Palenque.  

    But if I recall, to get to the Yucatan from Chiapas, you have to go through Tabasco, which is flooded right now...the roads may be a bit rough after the water subsides, but probably passable.
