Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher ready to go for training camp - NFL News
Some good news for Chicago Bears fans as linebacker and defensive stalwart Brian Urlacher has recovered fully from injury and is ready to take part in training camp.
Urlacher missed out on the team’s minicamp and organised team activities (OTAs) throughout the offseason as he continued his recovery from a knee injury.
In training camp though there will be no limitations for the veteran linebacker and he told
ESPN on Thursday that he is 110% ready to get back to training.
Urlacher said:
"I'm full go for everything, so I won't be missing anything."
Adding further he said:
"One hundred and ten percent, I'm good to go. The vet days that we get every once in a while, we'll take those when we can, but other than that, I'm good to go."
The linebacker has been a big player for Chicago ever since he joined them, 12 years ago in 2000 as a first round draft pick.
He is one of the only few players in the National Football League (NFL) to have never switched teams although it is likely to happen this year as his contract with Chicago runs out at the end of the season.
Urlacher though has made no secret of his desire to retire as a Bear.
Last year the linebacker finished with 102 tackles and no sacks as Chicago ended the regular season with an 8-8 record to miss out on the playoffs.
This year though Urlacher feels that Chicago are ready for a big and successful season.
He said:
"Athletically and mentally, we're one of the best defenses in the NFL. You look at position by position, we match up with everybody pretty well.”
Adding further he said:
"There's no doubt in (my) mind that we have the talent to (win the Super Bowl). It's just a matter of guys staying healthy and us performing on Sundays."
Chicago Bears will face tough competition this year to reach that goal but the team looks strong and ready to challenge for the playoffs after adding some great talent to the offensive roster.
It is now up to Urlacher to be ready for another season and hopefully a successful one with Chicago.
