Chicago Bears OC Mike Tice feels offence will be "explosive" in new season - NFL News
Chicago Bears are feeling pretty confident of their new look offensive line and it seems cannot wait to unleash it in the National Football League (NFL) when the new 2012-13 season starts.
Last season the Bears fared very poorly in offence during the business end of the season. Quarterback, Jay Cutler and running back, Matt Forte were counted out for the final games of the season due to season ending injuries.
With Cutler out, the Bears turned to backup, Caleb Hanie to pick up the signal calling duties. However, the backup quarterback failed miserably as the franchise lost five games in a row to throw away their chance of making the playoffs.
Ending the season at 8-8 Chicago fired former general manager, Jerry Angelo and brought in Phil Emery who wasted no time to bring in players that would immediately improve the offence.
Wide receiver, Brandon Marshall and running back, Michael Bush joined the roster while the draft also saw some talented youngsters being brought in.
With such talent at his disposal offensive coordinator, Mike Tice feels that the Bears will have an explosive offence in the 2012-13 season.
Speaking to reporters at Halas Hall at the rookie mini-camp he said.
"We want to play fast, We don't want to be out on the field and have the kids think[ing] too much. ... We have to put them in a position to show us and show the fans, and show the people that love the Bears, their athleticism and explosiveness. We want to
be explosive.”
This is the exact fighting spirit that coach, Lovie Smith seems to love about Tice.
Smith said.
“He’s been doing a super job, rallying and just organizing our offensive staff and getting them all on the same page. I think he’ll like the look of our offense this year. It helps a lot when you get more weapons, which we’ve done. I’m really pleased with
what the staff has done.”
The Bears offence does look good on paper and it remains to be seen how they will perform in the new season.
The offseason is building up to an exciting 2012-13 season.
