Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall confident about court proceedings - NFL News
Chicago Bears wide receiver, Brandon Marshall has been involved in his fair share of off-the-field incidents.
The latest one took place in New York City just a few days before the announcement of his signing as one of Bears star signings in this year’s free agency.
Marshall was alleged by a woman of punching him outside a nightclub during a fracas and the case has now gone to court.
A decision over the case has still not be reached however, Marshall feels confident that all charges will be dropped against him.
Speaking in a radio interview on Monday, the wide receiver said.
"You definitely have to let the judicial system take its course but again this also is one of those things as a result of everything I've been through in the past.”
Adding further he said.
“When you go through things that I've been through it makes you a bigger target. Not only am I an NFL player, I'm an NFL player that has had trouble in the past.”
The player also said that he was innocent and all accusations against him are a lie. He also said that his wife was a victim in the incident and he is hopeful that the charges brought against him will be dropped.
"Just the allegation of me balling my fist up and hitting a woman is just a lie. When the judicial system takes its course I'm very confident I will be cleared of any wrongdoing.”
Marshall is one of the best wide receivers in the league and has been voted to the Pro-Bowl three times and was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the last Pro-Bowl game which was won by the American Football Conference (AFC).
The wide receiver will likely rebuild his explosive pairing with quarterback, Jay Cutler as both players combined brilliantly at the Denver Broncos.
Chicago Bears ended last season with a poor 8-8 record as they missed out on the playoffs after losing their way in the final half of the season.
This year though with Marshall in the line-up they are hoping for a much better result in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
