Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall has learnt from nightclub incident - NFL News
New York City Police on Thursday decided against charging Chicago Bears wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, for his involvement in a fight that occurred outside a New York nightclub after which a woman filed a complaint against Marshall for hitting her in the
face.
Marshall who had always stated that he was innocent and had never punched the woman was cleared of any wrongdoing but Police authorities continue to further investigate the incident.
The incident took place just a few days before the three-time Pro-Bowler was expected to be unveiled as the Bears newest signing.
Marshall was alleged to have been involved in a fracas outside the nightclub and Christin Myles reported to police that the wide receiver had punched her in the face.
According to his lawyer, Marshall and his wife were the victims as they were hit by a bottle when trying to escape the melee.
The 28-year-old on Friday in an interview with ESPN said that he had learnt from the incident.
"Before this situation, I thought, hey, I'm still young. I want to enjoy life. We have no kids yet. So let's enjoy each other.”
He continued.
"After this, I turned to my wife, and this is spiritually. I even talked to God, and I'm saying, 'What are you trying to tell me here?' In every situation, we learn something. We contribute to every situation. But we also learn from every situation. And
in that, my wife turned to me and said, 'Maybe it's time for us to stop walking in slippery places.' "
This was not the first off-the-field incident involving Marshall who has been in-and-out of being in trouble with the authorities throughout his career in the National Football League.
The wide receiver was signed by the Chicago Bears in this year’s free agency from the Miami Dolphins to shore up their offensive options and fans are already expecting big things from the powerful receiver in the upcoming season.
Hopefully, Marshall will remain out of trouble from now on and concentrate on his game to help the Bears return back into the playoffs after last year’s disappointing campaign.
