Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall lavishes praise on Devin Hester - NFL News
Chicago Bears brought in wide receiver, Brandon Marshall in the current offseason as they looked to shore up an offence that lost its way in the final half of the 2011-12 season.
However, what they didn’t realise is they already had a great receiver in their roster in the first place.
Marshall talking in a radio interview with ESPN waxed lyrical about his new teammate and wide receiver, Devin Hester who he feels will have an even better 2012-13 season than him.
"I've never been around a receiver, never seen a receiver who runs routes like Devin Hester does outside. He has all the skills to be a Pro Bowl receiver, not a punt returner -- we all know what he can do there -- but a Pro Bowl receiver.”
Hester had a quiet season in 2011-12 after making just 26 receptions for a gain of 369 yards and scored a single touchdown.
However, Marshall believes that next season he is expecting the 29-year-old to have a greater impact and deliver more to the Bears than in previous years.
"Honestly I think he is going to have a bigger year than me this year. I just don't think he's been in an environment, a situation offensively that catered to him as a player. I think they will be able to put him in a better position this year to where he
can probably do damage. The person I'm more excited to see is Devin."
Hester was a second round pick for the Bears in 2006 and also plays as a punt returner for the Bears.
The Bears ended last year with a poor 8-8 record and missed out on the playoffs after injuries to regular quarterback, Jay Cutler and running back, Matt Forte who succumbed to season ending injuries.
Chicago went on to lose five games in a row after the loss of two of their star players and their poor performance saw them lose the fight for a wildcard playoff berth.
This offseason though the franchise has looked to remedy their problems and the arrival of Marshall will be a big boost to the offence.
If Hester lives up to the billing it is hard to see how Chicago will miss out on the playoffs this time round.
