Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall wants truth regarding incident to come out - NFL News
Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall got embroiled in a latest off the field disciplinary incident just before signing up to join the franchise from the Miami Dolphins.
This time Marshall, who has been involved in a string of previous incidents, is accused of punching a woman in the face during a fracas outside a New York nightclub and leaving her with a black eye.
The accuser named Christin Myles has started court proceedings over the incident in which Marshall’s wife also was hit by a flying bottle which led to her being hospitalised.
Marshall though in his introductory press conference at Halas Hall on Friday, said that the case is in court and the whole truth about the alleged incident will be revealed.
"Regarding the matter of this past weekend, my attorney, Harvey Steinberg, is doing an amazing job, and I think once the process has taken its course, my wife and I will be shown in a light that we should be,"
He went on to add that he understands the concerns over the incident due to his past actions.
"In due time I think that the truth will be out and we're excited about that. Given my history, I definitely understand the concern and the questions, but there's not too much I can go into regarding that."
The 27-year-old joined Chicago Bears in the first day of the free agency after the Bears gave up two third round draft picks to Miami Dolphins.
The move re-unites Marshall with his ex-Denver Broncos friend Jay Cutler and both are looking forward to continue their brilliant partnership in the new season.
"There's a lot of great QBs out there, there's a lot of great receivers out there, but it's hard to have a chemistry," Marshall said "To get back together is exciting."
His latest off the field antics may lead the National Football League (NFL) to impose fines and suspensions.
Marshall played brilliantly during the last season, even though the Miami Dolphins had another disappointing season.
The wide receiver made 81 receptions for a gain of 1,214 yards during the 2011-12 season and scored six touchdowns.
His performances got him voted into his third Pro-Bowl game where he performed superbly and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
