Chicago Bears amass over 50 points in win vs undisciplined Tennessee Titans – NFL Recap
Repeated mistakes on Sunday (Nov. 04) versus the visitors Chicago Bears cost the Tennessee Titans the game with final score at 51-20 in what coach Mike Munchak calls self-destructive manner.
It all started when wide receiver Kenny Britt lost a perfect 23-yarder from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and ended up allowing as many as five turnovers by the hosts in the entire game.
Coach Mike Munchak was not pleased by the team effort at all. He said:
"When you self-destruct like we did in the first quarter, it's hard to overcome all that."
QB Hasselbeck remarked:
"We talked about it. Every time I've played the Bears, we talk about it. They are very good at it. I don't think I've ever seen them do such an amazing job of getting the ball out. Partly credit them. Right now for us, we are blaming ourselves."
This was second straight loss by the hosts and probably one of the rare games in which the Titans have allowed so many points.
Mike is particularly annoyed with the team’s failure at all ends, although the show-off by the defensive line was rather pathetic. Moreover, Hasselbeck, who led the side right from front during last year, has failed to make a mark on the field during this
one.
Since being placed as a backup QB behind the leader Jake Locker, Hasselbeck’s performance seems lacking the energy and vigour of last season. It could be down on the fact that the player spent most of the offseason in a phase of uncertainty amid the owner’s
efforts to explore bringing in Peyton Manning and a couple of other players on the offensive line.
Although he appears to have moved on from that concerning point, some commentators believe the player couldn’t take his mind off the diminishing career prospects then. This affected his preparations for this season.
It at the end is not just quarterbacks or any player on the offensive line, the entire Titans team lack the vigour and charisma of last season. This was well reflective in their efforts against the Bears. It is a rare game in the league that a team has scored
over 50 points.
With a win from their divisional rivals the Indianapolis Colts on the weekend, the Titans are further down in division score chart, and might find it very difficult indeed to qualify for the playoffs.
If so, it will be rather unfortunate for the team who just fell on the luck to have made it to the second round of the league last year.
