Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher hopes to start the season opener even after surgery – NFL News
When everything is looking to go against Chicago Bears’ linebacker Brian Urlacher, he has given very positive remarks that looks surprising keeping current situation in view.
Urlacher went through an arthroscopic procedure earlier this week on Tuesday, August 14.
Talking about his chances of making into the starting team come the first game of the new season on September 09 against Carolina Panthers, he said:
"It just didn't feel like it was getting any better. So we decided as a team and as a training staff that it would be better to do that, and that's what we did. September 9th, that's all I care about. Our goal is September 9th."
Urlacher seems to have been facing a real tough time getting his knee healed. He first injured it while playing final game of the 2011 season against the Washington Redskins.
He first had surgery just after the occurrence of the injury which was only disclosed this week. It is believed that the surgery was not successful as Urlacher then went through a complete rehabilitation process.
Bears refused to comment on the reports that Urlacher had gone through surgical procedure previously.
At a time when Urlacher is facing difficulties in getting back on the field, another bad news has come for him.
His long time girlfriend Jenny McCarthy announced through a statement on Friday, August 17, that she and Urlacher had broken up. She said:
"Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship. I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him."
Urlacher, 34, started dating the former model and actress earlier this year. McCarthy even shifted to Chicago to spend more time with his beloved boyfriend.
Urlacher missed the starting four practice sessions because of swelling on his knees. Yet the interesting fact is that he missed the next two sessions due to some personal reasons.
Urlacher looked aggressive while being asked again and again about his return. He said:
"September 9th, ask me another question and I'll tell you September 9th.That's my goal. That's what we're shooting for, and the whole time that's been our goal,"
