Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher out for game against Minnesota Vikings – NFL News
Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher will not play next game due to his hamstring injury.
Bears head coach Lovie Smith ruled the player out on Wednesday while speaking at a press conference. He did not say anything about Urlacher’s return.
He said:
"Exactly when he's coming back, I don't know, but he's coming back at some time, though,"
Urlacher got his hamstring sprained during the last game against Seattle Seahawks.
According to FOX Chicago, doctors have told Urlacher that it will take two to four weeks for recovery. It means he is expected to return in the postseason.
He was 100 percent confident about returning for the playoffs and leading his team then.
According to ESPNChicago.com, talking about his plans in absence of Urlacher, Smith said:
"He's one of the leaders. He makes all of the calls. Just him being in the huddle helps. We're going to miss him. I can't belittle that at all. We're missing a great player. But you just have to look at Plan B. Plan B for us is pretty good if you do lose
a guy like that."
Linebacker Nick Roach is going to replace Urlacher and Geno Hayes will start at Roach’s place in Week 14 game against Minnesota Vikings.
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said of Urlacher:
"The sooner we get him back, the better. But guys are going to have to step up as other guys have and we're just going to have to find a way."
According to Hayes, they are not worried about making plays because Roach is a good player and he can do it very well. Urlacher will also be at sidelines for giving tips to them during the game.
Urlacher injured his knee before the start of the 2012 season. He went through a surgery and made a comeback in Week 4 and has not missed any game since then. He has 53 tackles and recovered two fumbles and two forced fumbles with 1 touchdown during this
season.
Bears have won eight and lost four games, and they are leading National Football Conference (NFC) North.
