Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs returns to practice – NFL News
Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs returned to practice session on Thursday.
Briggs injured his left ankle at the end of last game against Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.
He participated in practice for the next game against Seattle Seahawks. It is his 10th year with Bears and he has just missed four games in his career.
He said:
"I just have been blessed. I feel lucky, you know? (I'm) one of the guys that has made it 10 years and hasn't missed many games."
Talking about his health, Briggs said:
"I feel good, getting better every day, modern medicine. In my short, little career, I guess I've missed a couple of games. I don't plan on missing this week."
Briggs has 65 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions in this season.
Bears head coach Lovie Smith is very busy in managing the injured and fit players in and out of the team.
Cornerback Charles Tillman, running back Matt Forte and tight end Kellen Davis also returned to practice session on Thursday.
Tillman and Forte were injured during Week 12 game against Vikings and Davis was injured in Week 10 game against Houston Texans.
Guard Chris Spencer, wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Devin Hester, and linebacker Brian Urlacher are held out for the next game.
Smith seemed satisfied seeing the players performing in practice. According to him, it is really good that the players are making progress in practice on limited basis and he is hopeful that they are going to perform well in the game.
Urlacher has been suffering from knee injury since the start of the season. He has the highest tackles (1,294) in Bears’ franchise history.
He said of Briggs:
"We have our little lingo that we use when we talk back and forth. It'll be different (if Briggs can't play) because I'm used to having him in there all the time. It'll be different, but I don't see that being an issue."
Bears are leading National Football Conference (NFC) North with eight wins and three losses.
