Chicago Bears quarterback Jason Campbell in for Week 11 game – NFL News
Chicago Bears quarterback Jason Campbell has replaced Jay Cutler for Monday Night Football against San Francisco 49ers.
Cutler got a concussion when he was hit on his helmet by Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins during Week 10 game. The National Football League (NFL) fined Dobbins $30,000 for the hit.
It is good news for Campbell, as he was preparing well in the practice session on Thursday.
He said:
"It feels good to get back in there and play, but you never want to have the opportunity to play because of someone's injury. But we understand the position we play; those things occur sometimes,"
Campbell was signed by Bears on a one-year contract as a backup quarterback in March 2012. Before then he had played with Oakland Raiders (2010-11) and Washington Redskins (2005-09)
On October 16, 2011, he broke his collarbone during a regular season game against Cleveland Browns. This injury ended up his season and then Raiders released him.
Last week he played his first game with Bears and completed 11 of 19 passes for 94 yards without scoring any touchdown or throwing interception.
According to Campbell, he will need some time to find his rhythm since he was out of touch for a while. However, the player has his own strengths and he hopes to utilise them against 49ers.
He shared his views about 49ers that they are tough team and it would not be easy to defeat them.
He added:
“We have all the respect in the world for the 49ers and what they do, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It's a big part of the reason why they were in the NFC Championship Game a year ago.”
Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall shared his views about Campbell, he said:
"Jason's played a lot of football, he's an established vet, he's the next guy up and more than capable. We're fortunate enough to have a starting quarterback as our backup.”
Bears are leading National Football Conference (NFC) North with 7-2.
