Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler injures his neck during Week 14 game – NFL News
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler injured his neck in Week 14 game against Minnesota Vikings.
Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen hit Cutler in the fourth quarter of the game. He rested for a moment on the ground and started playing again.
A few minutes later he left the ground and Jason Campbell replaced him until the end. Vikings won the game by 21-14.
Talking about his injury during a press conference, Cutler said:
"Yeah, (it's) really stiff. It started stiffening up a little more as the game progressed, getting some spasms on the left side. So I just have to take it day by day."
The injury is not much severe and the player is not expected to miss any game. He was concussed in Week 10 game against Houston Texans.
Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins had hit his helmet on Cutler’s head in the second quarter of the game. Dobbins was fined due to this hit.
Cutler missed only one game, on November 19 against San Francisco 49ers, while recovering from concussion.
According to Bears head coach Lovie Smith, he believes in Cutler, who has been performing well since the last four seasons.
Smith is satisfied with Cutler’s performance this season, and he wants his veteran quarterback to start more games in future.
Cutler completed 22 of 44 passes for 260 yards and scored one touchdown.
He said of Cutler:
"I thought he fought until the end. Of course we'd like to have a couple of those throws back. But Jay is gonna play like that always. We know what we're gonna get from him."
Bears have won eight and lost five games in this season, and they are standing at second position in National Football Conference (NFC) North.
Smith expects his team to win the remaining three games. He said:
"We knew it would be a race to the finish, and that's what we're going to have. That window of opportunity for us is a lot smaller, but we still control what happens with us.”
