Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler out of practice – NFL News
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler did not practise on Thursday, and continued to recover.
Everyone wants to know whether Cutler is available for Monday night game against San Francisco 49ers or not, but Bears’ coach Lovie Smith is still not sure about it.
He said:
"There is not a whole lot I can say. He is getting better. Don’t know if he’ll be able to go this week.”
According to him, the player is getting better day by day. If Cutler feels better and ready to play, then he will certainly play on Monday.
He added:
"We would like for guys to (practice) at least by Friday; get some type of practice work in. But for some of our guys that have been around a while, if we get to game day and they haven't practiced and they feel like they can go, they'll play."
Bears defensive end Israel Idonije believes in his quarterback and he wants him to take care of himself and does not risk his life for the game. He thinks recovering from concussion should be the prime focus for Cutler right now. There are many games to
go in the season, and Cutler can join them when he is completely fit.
He said of Cutler:
“If everything goes through and when he’s ready to play, he’s going to play, he’ll get in the game and he’ll be effective for us and he’ll play well for us.”
Backup quarterback Jason Campbell has been preparing for the next game in practice sessions.
According to Smith, Campbell is a veteran player and he feels good about him. He is hopeful that Campbell will not disappoint him.
Along with Cutler, rookie defensive end Shea McClellin also suffered a concussion in Week 10 game against Houston Texans and missed the practice session due to his recovery.
Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was back to practice session after recovering from his hand injury. He got injured during Week 5 game against Jacksonville Jaguars.
At 7-2, Bears are leading the National Football Conference (NFC) North.
