Chicago Bears seek a much-need victory as they face Kansas City Chiefs—NFL Week 13 Preview
Chicago Bears will have a strong chance to improve their records as they are going to face a relatively weaker opponent, Kansas City Chiefs, in the week 13 encounter of the National Football League current season on Sunday at the
Soldier Field.
Bears are ranked third in the National Football Conference North division with seven victories and four defeats. The NFC North division is already dominated by the undefeated Green Bay Packers, which gives Bears a chance to enter
the playoffs only through a wildcard entry.
Bears were defeated last week by Oakland Raiders 25-20. Their backup quarterback, Caleb Hanie, who replaced injured Jay Cutler, could not prove to be a perfect substitution. Cutler was injured in the week 11 game against San Diego
Chargers and had to sit out in the last week game. He wants to play this weekend’s game, but his participation is unlikely.
"I'd want to play next week if they'd let me, but I don't think that's going to be in the cards," he said. "It could be I'm done for the season.”
Bears’ coach Lovie Smith has no other option, but to start with Hanie. The coach thinks that the player would do better than what he did last week and said that once Hanie gets going, the game becomes easy for him.
"He'll play better this coming week than he did the last," Smith said. "That's normally how you would expect a guy to start off when he hasn't had a lot of time, but once he got going, especially in the second half, he made a lot
of plays. You could see him getting more and more comfortable in the pocket and leading our offense."
Chiefs are ranked third in the American Football Conference West division with four victories and seven defeats to their credit. They are entering the game with a four-game losing streak at their back.
Like their opponents, Chiefs are also facing the quarterback-issue, and might play a new face against Bears. Their regular quarterback Matt Cassel was replaced after injury by Tyler Palko, who does not have any touchdown pass so
far. Chiefs coach Todd Haley has hinted at playing Kyle Orton as starter, but he said that final decision will be made keeping the team’s interest in the mind.
Meanwhile, as per the recommendations of NFL Security, there will be increased security measures at the Soldier Field and the fans will have to go through a thorough screening before taking their seats.
