Chicago Bears sign guard Andre Gurode – NFL News
Chicago Bears signed guard Andre Gurode on Tuesday, after losing both right and left guards in Week 12 game due to injuries.
Gurode is a veteran player drafted as 37th overall pick in the 2002 National Football League (NFL) draft by Dallas Cowboys. He has been selected for Pro Bowl five times.
He was released in 2011 by Cowboys when he got his knee injured in the offseason. Then he was signed by Baltimore Ravens for one year and played five regular season games with them.
Bears are now in trouble as right guard Lance Louis tore ACL in his left knee during a game against Minnesota Vikings, when he got a severe hit from Vikings tackle Jared Allen. This injury has ended his season.
Bears left guard Chris Spencer also injured his knee in the game on Sunday. His injury is not that severe but still it will take one or two weeks to recover.
Gurode is capable of leading the team in a better way and can fill the void created by the departure of Louis and Spencer.
Bears left tackle J'Marcus Webb said about playing in future without these important players:
"We just keep playing the way we're playing. We're a unit. We've been together now for X amount of weeks, X amount of years. We have to continue to look like it and play like it; play as a unit, and not as one."
Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler has returned after recovering from concussion, the team is back in form after losing two straight games in Week 10 and 11.
Week 12 was good for them as they outclassed Vikings by 28-10.
Talking about next game against Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, December 2, Webb said:
"The mood of the team is great. We're sitting real nice. Seattle is in our way. We can't let injuries or anything like that (keep) us from reaching that ultimate goal. We're at home, and we have to play like we're at home. The past weeks before last week
were a little rough. We feel good. We're going to continue to strive for excellence."
They have won eight and lost three games and are leading National Football Conference (NFC) North.
