Chicago Bears take on San Diego Chargers on Week 11 Sunday – NFL Preview
Chicago Bears start their next four games against teams from the American Football Conference West against the San Diego Chargers tomorrow at the Soldier Field, Chicago. The Bears are on a roll winning their last four games by
big margins and boast a defence that grows stronger with each game.
The Bears scored 130 points during their four game winning streak with only 65 points against them as they combine their offensive prowess provided by quarter back Jay Cutler with a solid defence.
"We're getting better," linebacker Brian Urlacher said "No doubt about that. We're not done yet. We've still got a long way to go. But we're going the right direction."
"It's about execution and that's what the guys are buying into," Coach Lovie Smith said.
The Bears destroyed Detroit Lions 37-13 at home in their last encounter with the Lions quarter back Matthew Stafford getting intercepted four times and were not able to reach the Bears end zone until late in the fourth quarter
when Bears Line Backer D.J Moore was ejected from the field following a massive brawl.
Chicago Bears form will send alarm bells ringing in the San Diego Chargers locker room as they are on their four game streak albeit on the losing side as they struggle to get results. The Chargers are 1-3 on the road and face a
massive test against Chicago Bears on Sunday.
Chargers Coach Norv Turner is fully aware of what his team is up against as they play their first game after a 24-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Thursday November 10th.
"We're going to need to get every guy healthy we can, and we're going to need to play better than we did (Thursday)," Coach Norv Turner said.
Quarter back Philip Rivers also echoed his Coach’s sentiment telling reporters
"The bottom line is we've lost four games in a row, and we've got to win a football game,"
Rivers will face his nemesis Jay Cutler for the first time after two years. While Cutler is having a great season with the Bears, Rivers has been performing erratically and a poor performance against Oakland where he completed
just 23 passes from 47 attempts.
The teams will meet each other for the first time since 2007 and the Chargers can take some comfort from the fact that the last time they met the Chargers won 14-3.
Both teams have differing targets to achieve from this game and it will be interesting to see how the contest plays out. Chicago Bears are favourites to win with AccuScore predicting a 57% chance of a Bears win from 10,000 simulations
while the statistics also favour a Bears win as they have scored 26.3 points per average with only 20.8 points against.
The Chargers statistic in this regard is not good reading, scoring an average of 24 points per game with 25.3 points against.
