Chicago Bears vs Denver Broncos – NFL Week 14: Preview

A hectic task lies ahead for the Chicago Bears this Sunday when they face the Denver Broncos at their home with major injuries undermining their offence.

It seems as if though the Bears would have to contend without their quarterback, running back and two other offensive team members. The injuries have taken the toll on the Bears team as they prepare for their Sunday’s game.

Even worst for the Bears is the fact that they have not fared well in their recent games. They lost their last two games and now look to avoid a third straight defeat at Colorado. With a battered offence, the only thing that the Bears can rely on is their defence
to avoid another loss.

There seems no way that the Bears would be able to overcome their injury woes. Jay Cutler sustained a thumb injury back in November and has been sidelined since then. Caleb Hanie who stepped in to undo the damage has not delivered much. Hanie scored just two
touchdowns and went for six interceptions since his start. The possibility of acquiring Brett Favre was quelled by the Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith.

In week 13, the Bears lost their running back Matt Forte to injury as they played the Kansas City Chiefs. Marion Barber has been called in as a replacement and much is being expected of him to deliver. Adding to the Bears woe is the fact that two other offensive
linemen were added to the injury list.

The bright spot however for the Chicago team is their defence. Their defence has the aptitude to overcome the Denver’s running onslaught. The Bears defence is at number two for allowing the least number of points to be scored against it in NFC.

The Broncos will be aiming for a sixth straight victory this Sunday. The Denver’s start this season with a 1-4 record was not impressive. However, with Tebow’s arrival in place of Kyle Orton, the Broncos have won six of their last seven games. Last Sunday’s
35-32 victory gave them the top position in AFC West with the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were beaten by the Denver 38-24 back in November so the Broncos undoubtedly stand as the strongest team in AFC West.

Linebacker Mario Haggan has been impressive for the Broncos managing 12 tackles and one interception that went for a touchdown against the Vikings. Tebow with ten touchdowns and an average of completing about fifty percent of passes has the Broncos in a strong
position against the Bears.

Also strengthening the Broncos side is running back Willis McGahee who is now expected to play this Sunday. McGahee has had 886 yards of rushing and 4 touchdowns this season.

The last two encounters between the two sides resulted in victories for the Bears.
