Chicago Blackhawks' Marian Hossa healthy, ready to get back on ice -NHL offseason Update
The memory of facing a near career ending injury might still be fresh in the mind of Chicago Blackhawks’ veteran right winger, Marian Hossa, but he definitely has it the back with all the things he has put to his past.
Feeling better than ever, the veteran forward is ready to get back on the ice and perform his heart out when the 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season kicks off in October.
Hossa was knocked out cold during the 2012 NHL Playoffs as Phoenix Coyotes went up against Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference semi-finals. Raffi Torres, a Phoenix forward, hit Hossa during Game 3 of the series, sending Hossa out of the stadium
on a stretcher and earning himself a 25-game suspension.
The 33-year-old was taking with reporters on Friday afternoon at a media function before the beginning of Chicago’s annual fan convention this weekend.
"Lots of time has passed by and that helped me," Hossa said. "I didn't have to rush anything and that was most important thing. After (it was decided) that I couldn't fly home to Slovakia, I just basically didn't do anything. I just relaxed and (at) some
point I decided to try to do something, start working out. Things right now are on a level where I want to be and I'm happy where I am so far."
Up until now, Marrian Hossa has not returned to practice on the ice just yet and is rather working on his physical strength in the gym. He is much better and recovered from that serious concussion which nearly ended his career early, but is determined to
get back on the rink soon enough.
"I'm going to take my time and first do everything at the gym, cardio, and the time will come soon when I step on the ice and start doing things on the ice," Hossa added.
Marian Hossa had 77 points (29 goals, 48 assists) in 81 games played with a plus-minus rating of 18 and played just three games in the playoffs before being sent out with a severe concussion.
Seeing Marian Hossa back on the ice is something not only teammates want but countless fans that prayed for the players early and full recovery.
