Chicago Blackhawks Dave Bolland regrets retweeting wish for Gary Bettman's Death -NHL Update
The Chicago Blackhawks probably could not have imagined it and Dave Bolland went on to certainly regret his decision of retweeting a tweet by a follower on social media networking website, wishing for the death of National Hockey League (NHL) commissioner,
Gary Bettman.
Bolland, the Blackhawks 26-year-old centre player from Mimico, Ontario, Canada, made an unfortunate mistake of sharing the tweet which read, “Can I get a RT for wanting Bettman dead?”
This, for many fans of professional hockey, is obviously something that has been going around a lot nowadays, especially due to the second lockout in play in less than a decade, but it is clear that neither of the parties involved had an serious intentions
of making life threatening statements.
Realizing his honest mistake, Bolland did delete the retweet an apologized for his actions, which is something that should be more than enough in his case as there are much worse things going around the net in regards to Gary Bettman.
"It was a mistake, I never meant to retweet that out," Bolland told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun. "I like to retweet for a lot of my fans, and I just retweeted the wrong thing. I feel bad about it."
With no labour talks scheduled for the future, along with both sides being strictly deadlocked after the previous meeting, which was seen to be the most crucial with the Players’ Association putting forth a final draft and having it rejected, frustration
is clearly growing from all corners with no end to the lockout in sight.
Bollan is a former 32nd overall draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, who was brought on board during the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in six seasons with Chicago thus far and boasts 297 games played, with 154 points to his name, consisting
of 63 goals and 91 assists in total.
This certainly is not the first time any professional hockey player has come out about Gary Bettman as Detroit Red Wings’ Ian White have termed the hockey boss to be an “idiot”, along with some terming them to be cancers spreading throughout the league.
