Chicago Blackhawks Duncan Keith terms lockout as “Embarrassing” -NHL Update
Having to deal with fans in this situation is definitely tough on any National Hockey League (NHL) players and Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith by terming the lockout to be “embarrassing” for them.
While most of the Blackhawks players have chosen not to go abroad like many others have done around North American to play with foreign leagues, continuing to practice while the 2012-2013 NHL regular season should have already started is certainly disheartening
in every way.
“It’s just embarrassing for everybody,” said Keith, who joined his teammates at practices here on Wednesday, according to csnChicago.com. “There’s a lot of talk for the fans. They’re the ones who don’t have a voice and aren’t being heard in these negotiations.
It’s tough on them, but it’s frustrating for players.
The situation is quiet clear in everyone’s eyes, but why the league is not willing to compromise on their stance is confusing for each and every player despite the sport hitting its peak in terms of revenue generated throughout these past few seasons.
“We want to play hockey. It’s what we’ve been doing since we’ve been young,” Keith continued. “But we understand the situation and what needs to be done and why we’re not playing. We want a fair deal and we’re not going to play until we get that.”
Keith also went on to say that the regular season might be completely locked out, but like any other player waiting on the regular season to start, he is hoping that it will come to an end sooner than late.
Losing out on hundreds of millions of dollars is quiet distressing for sure and after having gotten back to Chicago recently, Keith is not contemplating moving to Europe anytime soon according to the source, but might just have to if the situation worsens
at home within the NHL.
At the moment, Keith has termed himself as continuing to work out, practice and continue following the negotiation process while hoping that something will come out soon enough.
Keith is an integral part of the Chicago Blackhawks as the 29-year-old potted 40 points (4 goals, 36 assists) last season in 74 games played.
