Chicago Blackhawks Joel Quenneville could be heading to coach Montreal Canadiens -NHL Rumours Update
Chicago Blackhawks had another disappointing National Hockey League (NHL) postseason as they were eliminated in the opening round for the second straight year. Seeing how Chicago really needs to eliminate the speed bumps in their team over this lengthy offseason,
Joel Quenneville just might be one of those to move.
The Chicago squad is filled with All-Star players that really know how to get the job done, which definitely showed back in 2010 as they brought home the Stanley Cup championship after 40 plus years, which now forces the fingers to point towards the coaching
staff.
According to latest rumours, Blackhawks’ head coach, Joel Quenneville could be heading to Montreal Canadiens as the franchise is looking to recruit a top notch coach capable of turning their team around and quite frankly, it could be a good move for him
as well.
Since Chicago Blackhawks’ assistant general manager, Marc Bergevin, also recently left to join the Montreal franchise as their new GM, he could become the reason while Quenneville will make the transition up North.
Queneville’s and Bergevin’s friendship in no secret and both are highly likely to be in contact ever since the deal took place between the two stakeholders.
According to Chicago general manager, Stan Bowman, Joel Quenneville will remain the coach of the team for the upcoming season, but even he did not look to be confident in that regard when talking to the Chicago Tribune.
"Yeah, I think we made that clear at the end of the year, that we're trying to look forward and get better as a group," Bowman said. "But I don't talk about rumours. I haven't and I don't want to start now."
Even players would not like to see the coach go as they find him to be a friend that motivates them to constantly be better at what they do.
"Joel is a great coach," Patrick Sharp said. "It doesn't surprise me that those rumors are out there. I think a lot of teams would like to have him, but we're all happy to play for him, that's for sure."
Update can be expected on the matter as the offseason continues to progress for Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens.
