Chicago Blackhawks Jonathan Toews teams up with Canadian Tire in hunt for most skilled hockey player
Chicago Blackhawks centre player and 2010 Stanley Cup champion, Jonathan Toews, has teamed up with Canadian company, Canadian Tire, in the hunt for the most skilled youth hockey player through the launching of Canadian Tire National Hockey League (NHL) Junior
Skills Competition.
The initiative was launched recently this week in partnership with the NHL and Canadian Tire Hockey School, of which Jonathan Toews is the founding member of. The person who can show the most ability and prove himself to be the most qualified will be awarded
the title of Canada’s most skilled youth hockey player.
The 23-year-old hockey sensation describes the event as an opportunity for youngsters to get recognised and compete along with developing further interest in the sport which the country loves so much.
"I'm looking forward to seeing fellow hockey school members competing in and enjoying these events", Toews said. "I know the thrill of competing, winning and the camaraderie in competitions like the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, and I'm excited that Canadian
Tire and the NHL can bring this experience to Canada's minor hockey players".
Throughout Canada, competitors wanting to take part in the competition will have the chance by qualifying at 15 regional qualifying competition, from which the performers with the strongest abilities will compete in the Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills National
Championship, which will be held in Ottawa, Ontario during the 2012 NHL All-Star Game weekend in January next year.
