Chicago Blackhawks Manager Stan Bowman still interested in Shane Doan as trade process slows down
The free agency market of the National Hockey League (NHL) is shrivelling up and trade process is getting slower but Stan Bowman, General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks is not done yet and is still working to bring some more players on his roster, one
of the players he is interested in, is free agent Shane Doan, an NHL star and a very decorated hockey player.
Stan Bowman while talking to the media on Friday said that transfer and trade process is slowing down as things are getting quite but it should not be considered over yet and any more big trade deals should not be ruled out.
The 39-year-old said, "I don't want to say they're at a standstill leaguewide, but it seems to have quieted down after those first couple of days. It's usually the way it works. There's a mad rush and then people sort of sort out where they're at, and that's
probably what's happening right now. There's still talk, but it's probably not as frantic as it was maybe 10 days ago."
Only player Blackhawks have signed in this trade agency is Sheldon Brookbank, the defenseman who played for Anaheim Ducks last season. Brookbank was signed on the 1st of the July.
Bowman confirmed that he has inquired about Shane Doan to get him on his roster. Shane Doan has been playing for Phoenix Coyotes for last 15 seasons but now has become a free agent, that makes many teams and their managers interested in him, including Chicago
Blackhawks and Bowman.
He said that he has talked to Shane Doan and his agent and would look at it whether they could sign him as a free agent or a trade.
Bowman said, “We've talked to a number of players and their agents. Anytime we can improve our team, we're going to look at it, whether it's a free-agent signing or trade.”
But 2010 Stanley Cup winner as a General Manager with Chicago Blackhawks denied the speculations that Blackhawks would sign Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo saying that, “We're not really allowed to comment on guys under contract”.
Bowman emphasised on his development camp and talked a lot of good about his prospects.
