Chicago Blackhawks Marian Hossa recovering, will be back soon -NHL Update
Now that the Chicago Blackhawks are out and done with the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff Quarterfinals, Marian Hossa can focus on recovering and making a steady comeback.
Chicago Blackhawks general manager, Stan Bowman, made the announcement on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, that Hossa will be fine and will eventually comeback for the next season.
Hossa was injured in Game 3 of the playoff series between Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes after forward, Raffi Torres, made a shoulder shot to his head, forcing him out of the arena on a stretcher and to a local Chicago hospital.
"We've had a lot of similar type injuries with players in the past," Bowman said Wednesday. "It's too hard to predict the recovery time on these things. There is no reason to think he's any different than any other player that has that type of injury. We're
very optimistic that he's going to be back."
Phoenix’s Raffi Torres was suspended for 25 games, one of the biggest punishments by the league in recent years, but looking at the seriousness of the issue, it came out to be well deserved.
"We don't approach that any differently than a different injury," Bowman said. "We're here in April and training camp doesn't open until September. That's a lot of time to be rested and prepared and training in the offseason."
Hossa played a total of 81 games in the 2011-2012 NHL regular season, which was one of his most consistent in recent years. He potted 77 points (29 goals, 48 assists) along with 18 minutes in penalty time.
Many believe that having Hossa till the end of the series would have allowed Chicago Blackhawks to advance and take down the Phoenix Coyotes, but with all that being just assumptions, nothing is for certain.
It was feared that Marian Hossa’s condition might have been career threatening but fortunately; it turned out that the player would be making a full recovery with more than enough time to rebound for the next season.
Updates on the player are expected with the next few days as to what his condition is and if there are any further complications with the recovery.
