Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane embarrassed and apologises; denies having drinking problem
Patrick Kane, a 1st overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NHL draft and a promising star, apologised and showed his embarrassment over the public display of his photos, which appeared to be unethical.
But he clarified that he has not got a drinking problem and rejected such speculations about himself.
Earlier this spring, on the 5th of May, some of Kane’s photos leaked, in which he was seen to be partying during Cinco De Mayo celebrations in Madison, Wisconsin. This incident caused a lot of embarrassment to Chicago Blackhawks team, as told
by their General Manager, Stan Bowman.
23-year-old Kane’s pictures were spread all around the blogs and different websites on internet, which resulted in many jokes and memes being made on him. This is not the first time that he is involved in a controversy as there have been few more incidents
involving him in, not a very preferable position.
Speaking to the public and media for the first time since incident, Blackhawks’ forward said,
“It was embarrassing. That's the first thing I can say. From the pictures that came out, to the disappointment from the Hawks organization, to my family, to myself personally. It's embarrassing. It's not who I want to be. I want to be a role model to kids
and to everyone for that matter. It's something I want to put behind me and be the best person and player I can be ... It was the end of the season and I was looking for a good weekend with my friends and things got a little out of control."
On 9th August 2009, Kane made headlines when he was arrested as he was found to have punched a Buffalo cab driver after he did not have proper change. He was also photographed in Vancouver in 2010, partying in a Limousine.
Born in Buffalo, New York, the American ice hockey professional had a great start to his NHL career when he first played for Blackhawks’ in 2007. He scored a huge total of 72 points in the first season and got even better in the coming seasons. Kane hit
a high of 88 points (9th on the most points list in a season) in the 2009-2010 points, helping his side win Stanley Cup.
But last season was his worst as he scored 66 points, his lowest in five years with Blackhawks.
