Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane to miss training camp, expecting regular season return –NHL Update
Young Chicago Blackhawks forward superstar, Patrick Kane, had been having issue with his left wrist after rigorous workout routines during the offseason, as he looked to build himself up and pack on the pounds for the next 2011-2012 National Hockey League
(NHL) regular season.
He later realised after it started to nag him continuously that he had sustained a scaphoid fracture, for which he underwent surgery on July 19. After surgery, the 22-year-old was given a 6-8 weeks recovery period and was expected to be ready for the teams’
training camp which starts in September.
According to latest reports, the former first overall pick during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by Chicago Blackhawks, thinks that he will rather be making a comeback with his team in their season opener in October, instead of training camp as formerly expected.
He made the announcement during an interview with a local city radio station on Wednesday, August 24.
"I went to get it checked out (Monday) and everything seems to be checking in right now", Kane said. "(It was) good news (Monday) so I should be ready for the start of the season".
Chicago Blackhawks general manager, Stan Bowman, told a local newspaper the same day that expects that Kane will be joining them during their offseason training camp in mid-September, due to him being right on schedule, but Kane was the one to update the
situation after learning about Bowman’s statement.
"I still have a little cast on, so it's probably a little bit longer", Kane said. "I'm not really going to rush anything; we still have a lot of time. My goal is to be ready for the opening regular-season game. Obviously, you'd like to be back in training
camp, but more importantly the date is Oct. 7 for our first regular-season game. That's kind of the date I'm working for".
Being one of Chicago’s top contributors, it would be best if Patrick Kane recovers fully for the new season instead of working and creating more problems for himself, which would most likely undermine the team also.
