Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 – NHL Recap
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 at the United Centre on Friday. The game was important for both teams, the Blackhawks looked to strengthen their position in the National Hockey League play-off cut, as the Hurricanes were looking to
move above the final play-off spot.
The game started off strong, as both teams dominated on the offence. The Blackhawks scored the opening goal with the Hurricanes levelling the proceedings. However, the Blackhawks scored once again to lead at the end of the period. The final period saw the
Blackhawks step up pace, as they scored four times in the period to win the game 5-2. Marian Hossa, winger of the Blackhawks was named the Star of the Game, as he came up with two assists during the game.
The Blackhawks, with the advantage of playing on home ice, managed to come up with an extravagant start, saw them scoring, in the very first minute. The goal was scored by Jonathan Toews from a brilliant flick-shot. The Hurricanes managed to come up with
some decent plays that saw them scoring in the seventh minute through Captain Eric Staal to level the scores.
The goal was scored from a powerful strike that went flying into the back of the net. The Blackhawks continued to pile up pressure on the away side and came up with some decent plays in doing so. The team scored in the 10th minute to get back
into the lead. The goal was scored by Bryan Bickell from a well placed flick-shot.
The period ended with the Blackhawks leading 2-1 at the end of the period, as they made 9 goal attempts to the Hurricanes 5.
The second period started off with both teams making a decent start that saw them coming across scoring chances. However, they were not able to capitalise from the chances they got.
The period ended goalless with the Blackhawks still leading 1-0, as the teams went into the break. Both teams came up with 9 goal attempts during the course of the period.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Blackhawks starting off in spectacular fashion, as they scored in the third minute through Ryan Johnson from brilliant back-hand shot to double their lead. The Blackhawks scored once again in the very next minute from
Dave Bolland.
The Blackhawks managed to score once again in the 8th minute through Patrick Kane from a decent strike to take the score to 5-1. Jeff Skinner scored for the Hurricanes in the 13th minute, but they could not manage to come up with more
goals, as the period and the game ended with the Blackhawks winning the game 5-2.
