Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 – NHL Recap
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 at the Xcel Energy Centre on Monday. This game was very important for both teams, as they continued their battle in cementing their position in the National Hockey League playoff-cut. A win for either of
the two teams would put them in the top eight.
The scores were level at the end of the first period, but the game caught pace as the Blackhawks scored thrice in the second and once in the final period. The Wild could only manage two goals during the final period. Jonathan Toews was named the Star of
the Game, as he scored a goal and ended up making two assists.
The game started off with both teams attacking right from the start. There were scoring chances for both teams during the opening period. Some brilliant pieces of play were constructed by both teams and things all only got stable with the passage of time.
The shooting, passing and defending was exemplary, but the story remained the same throughout the period, as the teams were level on scores at 0-0 as the period came to an end. During the course of the period, the Blackhawks made 14 goal attempts while the
Wild managed 9.
The second period saw the Blackhawks taking charge of the game and they came up with some brilliant pieces of play. The Blackhawks scored within the first minute of the period through Patrick Sharp from a quick fired shot to get into the lead.
The Blackhawks did not give any space to the Wild, which resulted in the team scoring once again in the 7th minute through Tomas Kopecky. Though the Wild came up with some attacks, but their confidence was shattered as their shots were very weak.
Chicago took advantage of this and scored in the 15th minute through Jonathan Toews to seal a dominating period’s performance. The period ended with the Blackhawks leading 3-0, as they made 10 goal attempts during the period and the Wild made

The final 20 minutes of play saw the Wild scoring in the very first minute through Martin Havlat from a decent flick-shot. However, the Wild were not able to capitalise from the strong start they made, as they came up with strong attacks throughout the period.
The home side managed to score in the 16th minute through Brent Burns from a brilliant back-hand shot to trail by a single goal. The Blackhawks scored once again in the 19th minute through Marian Hossa to seal the game.
The period and the game ended with the Blackhawks winning the game 4-2 in the end, as they made 10 goal attempts during the period and the Wild managing 12.
