Chicago Blackhawks’ forward Marian Hossa’s return awaited as he rehabs at home-NHL News
A timeline for the recovery and return of Chicago Blackhawks’ forward, Marian Hossa, remains unknown even though the player has moved out of the hospital and rehabbing at home, as confirmed by the team management on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Hossa was taken to the hospital after being inspected by the team doctor initially. The player was injured in the Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals series against the Phoenix Coyotes.
He was hit by Coyotes’ forward, Raffi Torres, with his left shoulder. The hit that had come in the second round of the game on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, made Hossa fall on the ice and motionless for a minute before being taken to the team’s bench first and
then to the locker room.
Following the incident, Blackhawks released a statement after the player’s inspection by their team doctor. The statement read:
"Marian Hossa suffered an upper-body blow in the first period of tonight's game. After initial evaluation on the ice he was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further testing, which yielded encouraging results.”
It added:
“He has been released from the hospital and we are monitoring him closely at home. We anticipate a full recovery in a timetable yet to be determined."
He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and as of the latest, he has moved out of the hospital at home and is in the recovery process.
However, the team has not speculated anything about his return and in absence of any concrete information, there is a fear that he might miss the entire playoff series.
This could also be true given the fact that the management has not confirmed the nature of his injury and the situation remains to earlier information that it is an upper body injury.
Meanwhile, the teammates have spoken of their content over the reports of his coming back home, removing the uncertainty about his recovery to some extent.
Defenseman, Brent Seabrook, said:
"Any time you see a teammate and a good friend, someone you've had some great experiences with, it's tough when you see him laying on the ice like that."
He hopes the player rejoins them in the near future.
