Chicago Blackhawks hope to end winless drought, a remote possibility for them yet – NHL News
The Chicago Blackhawks have lost nine straight games this season of National Hockey League (NHL) and yet some of their players find strength to joke and laugh it off, apparently in effort to be over with their consecutive losses and not let the negativity
affect their future chances.
It is one of the rare poor performances from Blackhawks, which has forced the team’s ranking down at sixth position in the Western Conference, after staying amongst top three teams a week and half ago.
Apparently, the players and team do not have an answer to their poor performance of the season, except for trying keeping their mind away from their losses, to avoid becoming negative about it.
"There is a moment every day when we remind each other we're teammates, we're friends, we're family and we're going to pull it together," their centre, Jonathan Toews, said.
He added:
"We're not holding any of this bad luck or these discouraging things against each other. That's the biggest thing. Something's got to give. Something's got to go our way eventually. They say if you keep doing the right things the hockey gods are going to
reward you, and we're hoping that's going to happen soon."
The player said that they were giving their best to score a win, without any success so far. He hopes to manage perform better in the future and end their winless drought.
He felt that the team should have won the game in Nashville this week, and again ruined their chance, which has baffled the entire squad.
Toews said that he was hopeful of better performance by his side in the future and this was one of the reasons behind their staying positive.
The current level of form by the team has also generated a talk around the possibility of trade of some of their players and taking on board of new prospects at certain positions.
The team’s general manager, Stan Bowman, has recently hinted at seeking help at the blue line through the market, possibly bringing in a couple of new players.
None of other team officials have spoken about the possibility so far, especially the coach has not said anything about the trade opportunity yet.
The trade deadline of February 27, 2012 is looming large and the team will need to make their choice at earliest possible. A number of their players are expecting renewal of their deals from the team to avoid becoming free agency after the deadline.
Coming few days are going to be crucial for the team management and they will have to come up with their final plan of retaining and bringing more players.
Amid an atmosphere of sluggishness, the poor form of the team continues to be a worry for the management.
