Chicago Blackhawks invest high hopes in Daniel Carcillo for next season –NHL offseason Update
Some players are not always bound for scoring greatness, in which they impress the hockey world through high points and records at the end of the day, but rather amaze with their physical playing abilities and capability of intimidating players to such an
extent that they fear even coming out of their own area.
Daniel Carcillo is one of those players that possess such rare talent which help teams use him as an intimidating force to all of a sudden kill their back-to-back scoring streaks or constant turnovers.
It might be the inner anger or just sheer aggression, but it is definitely something which teams and coaches find utterly attractive. After being signed on by Chicago Blackhawks during day-one of the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) free agency, Carcillo
expressed his desire to restart fresh, but not in terms of game-play, at the United Centre on Monday during a press conference to introduce him and Andrew Brunette.
"The way I play, I'm bound to miss a few games every year (on suspension)", Carcillo said. "It comes with the territory. I'm not going to say I like being suspended. I don't like the pay cuts or missing the games. But the way I play, it's tough to stay out
of the principal's office".
Drafted as the 73rd overall pick by Pittsburgh Penguins during round-three of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, very few teams have been able to notice and pick up the talent Daniel Carcillo can provide to a team.
The King City, Ontario, Canada native, never played with his original draft team but joined Phoenix Coyotes in 2006-2007 instead and remained there until 2009. He spent the next three seasons with Philadelphia Flyers, but last year, only played 57 games
and registered a meagre six points (4 goals, 2 assists), he failed to re-sign with them.
Playing along with veteran, Andrew Brunette, Carcillo believes it will create a tough offensive force.
“It seems like the way I play the game, I play it hard”, Carcillo said. “I play it with high emotion and put everything I can into every game and every shift, so fans everywhere can relate to that”.
It will certainly be exciting to see how the 26-year-old performs on a new team and with a new role.
