Chicago Blackhawks need to keep momentum going against Los Angeles Kings – NHL Playoffs
It was a time of miracles for the Chicago Blackhawks as they bounced back from being on the verge of elimination against Detroit Red Wings following Game 4 and took the series with three straight wins from there
on.
If the Blackhawks are looking to win the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Western Conference Playoff Finals against Los Angeles Kings, they seriously need to keep playing with the same momentum and dedication.
Hopefully, that one day of rest that Chicago was blessed with after ousting Detroit in Game 7 will not break the momentum when they go up against Los Angeles on Saturday for Game 1 of the Conference Finals.
Brent Seabrook emerged as the match saviour as he made a miraculous goal in overtime, which was also his first of the playoffs ever since they kicked off.
"The playoffs aren't easy," said Chicago center Dave Bolland. "You don't come in here thinking things are just going to happen and you're going to score and you're going to be a success. We've got to battle and
play hard. We have to bear down … and this isn't the end. This is just another step towards the Stanley Cup."
The biggest factor going into the series against Los Angeles is that they are the Stanley Cup winners of 2012 and are willing to do anything to defend their cup. Both teams are recent winners of the trophy, as
Chicago brought it home for the first time in over 40 years in 2010, making this series even more intense from every perspective.
"They protect their net well and when you do get to the net they've got one of the best goalies in the League making saves," said Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp. "It's not going to get any easier, that's for
sure, but hopefully we can raise our level and play well."
Chicago was the best team in the Western Conference at the end of the 2013 regular season, while Los Angeles was number five.
Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings will be going head-to-head for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday, June 1, at 5 PM ET at the United Center.
