Chicago Blackhawks plays host to San Jose Sharks in the forth and final meeting between them - NHL Previews
The second game of Monday will be hosted by Chicago Blackhawks as they play host to San Jose Sharks at the United Center.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the season and the first game between the two sides after the New Year.
Sharks have been very dominating in the series so far as they have managed to win all the three games.
The last and most recent game between the two sides saw Sharks coming up with a brilliant 5-3 win in the end. Joe Thornton was the scorer of the winning goal during the game.
Both the teams have been going through some decent times in the season which have seen them both scoring in nine out of their last 10 recent games.
Though Hawks came up with a decent performance that saw them overcoming a 3-2 deficit, they lost the game in overtime.
However, they secured the all important crucial points which could change the outcome of the team once the regular season ends.
"We'll take the point. We weren't very good today," Chicago's coach. Joel Quenneville, said. "They played well. They played hard. I thought we had a little delay in our game."
Hawks were in a very comfortable position just a few games ago where they won against some of the heavy weights during the season so far.
They won games regularly and strung up an eight games consecutive winning streak. However, the follow up wasn’t that great as they lost three games.
But this past Sunday they managed to score a point which was readily accepted by the coach and team. However, Jonathan Toews who scored the goal that brought the teams on level terms wasn’t as happy.
"When we get that chance to be back in the games, there's no reason to be satisfied with one point," Toews said. "That's two overtime losses in the last couple games and we can't be happy with just getting one point out of each of those games."
Hawks have played 69 games during the course of the season so far out of which they have won 37 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 82 points.
Sharks, on other hand, have also played 69 games out of which they have won 39 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score 86 points.
Sharks will also be looking to avoid another two games' overtime losing streak as they lost the game against Canucks by 5-4 on shootout and 3-2 in shootout against New York Rangers.
"We're at the point of the season now where a point isn't good enough," defenseman Dan Boyle said. "We had our chances, for sure. You never know if that point could cost us in the end. Hopefully it doesn't."
