Chicago Blackhawks promote Stan Bowman, four others
On Tuesday the Chicago Blackhawks rewarded members of their executive staff with promotions.  The promotions come after the Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup in 49 years by defeating the Philadelphia Flyers four games to two in the best of seven series.
The biggest name on the list of those receiving promotions was Stan Bowman. Bowman, the Blackhawks general manager, added the title of vice president to his name. Bowman, son of the legendary NHL coach and GM Scotty Bowman, joined the Blackhawks in 2001 as special assistant to the general manager. He held this position for four seasons before being promoted to director of hockey operations in 2005. In 2007 Bowman was promoted to assistant general manager and held that position until July 2009. On July 14, 2009 he was promoted to the position of general manager, after Dale Tallon was demoted from that position. With the Stanley Cup victory, Bowman became the youngest GM, at 37, to ever win the Stanley Cup.  Bowman is the ninth GM of the Blackhawks, who joined the NHL in 1926.
In addition to promoting Bowman, the Blackhawks gave four other executives promotions. Jay Blunk was named executive vice president. Previously, Blunk held the position of senior vice president of business operations.  Assistant general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff added the title of senior director of hockey operations to his name. Al MacIsaac was promoted from senior director of hockey administration/assistant to the president to vice president/assistant to the president. Lastly, Chris Werner was promoted to vice president of ticket operations and customer service.
Blackhawks president John McDonough, had this to say upon announcing the promotions, “Stan, Jay, Kevin, Al and Chris have worked hard to build a strong and cohesive operation. They have been instrumental in maintaining a unified relationship between hockey and business operations of our franchise.”
