Chicago Blackhawks’ right winger Patrick Kane admits he was very close to signing in Europe
Patrick Kane, a professional ice hockey player and an American national, who plays for Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL), has admitted that he was very close to signing for some European side during the NHL lockout.
The 23-year-old player seems to have aborted the idea of moving abroad for now and looks like he would stay in America for now as he was seen near Lurie Children’s Hospital, at the Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday, which proved that he is not going out.
Kane did not hesitate much in revealing the truth that he could have moved abroad a few weeks ago but decided for wait for the right time as he was patient enough to look out for talks which are going on between the NHL and NHL Players’ Association. He does
not want to go and then come back once again if the lockout has ended after some days and he said,
“Yeah, I would say I was close maybe a week or two ago to going over. But it was just kind of wait for the right situation and things like that. You hear about this game and you hear the negotiations are going better and you don’t want to make any rush to
get over there and have to come back in a couple weeks. We’ll see what happens with the negotiations.”
The right winger will join fellow players Patrick Sharp, Brian Campbell, Jonathan Toews and Adam Burish in playing the charity game for the Ronald McDonald house, which does the work the charity of the children.
The Buffalo, New York native was very happy and appreciated the effort of NHL officials who made a proposal for NHLPA. He thinks it was an excellent step to make it open for the media and the general public as well, so that everybody can get some encouragement
and feel that time is not away when they would be able to see their favourite players in action once again. Kane added,
“It’s probably a good move by them to put the offer out and make it look like they’re offering everything we want especially to the media”.
