Chicago Blackhawks team back coach Joel Quenneville in light of current slump -NHL Update
With voices of firing head coach, Joel Quenneville, echoing around the National Hockey League (NHL) due to their recent eight-game slump, the Chicago Blackhawks team has backed the veteran and termed it to be temporary along with him not being the proper
person to target.
The veteran coach who led the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory in nearly 40 years back in 2010, Joel Quenneville had been termed to be one of the finest coaches in the league but recently has come under some intense heat.
Fortunately, Chicago is still sitting in the playoff division at the sixth number place with 65 points but if they continue the way they are at the moment, seeing them below the dividing line might not come as a surprise.
Chicago Blackhawks general manager, Stan Bowman, was one of the first people to come to Quenneville’s defence.
"That's not the concern for me at all," Bowman told Comcast SportsNet Chicago. "I'm very confident in Joel's ability, our coaching staff's ability."
Quenneville, after practice on Monday was asked whether or not he would need to hear explicit support if he was to continue performing, but seemed confident either way.
"I'm confident in what I do, and I look forward to the challenge ... to instil to our group a way to win and have a nice environment around here that can only get better as we go along," Quenneville said. "Hopefully we can look back at the position we are
in today and it makes us a better and stronger team. It makes me a better coach."
The 2010-2011 regular season was certainly a disappointment for the team which was supposed to be defending their Stanley Cup championship but was knocked out in the opening playoff round by the Vancouver Canucks in game-seven.
This season, according to observers, is not showing much hope for the Blackhawks who are otherwise certain of a championship, but for Chicago, things will eventually begin to look up as the playoffs get closer each and every day.
Chicago’s matchup against Nashville Predators will be interesting to watch as the team goes back to play where their disappointing losing streak kicked off.
