Chicago Blackhawks versus Vancouver Canucks Game 5 Preview – NHL Updates
The fifth game of the quarterfinals’ series between Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks will be played at the Rogers Arena as Canucks look to wrap up the series. Canucks won the first three games of the series comfortably but, the last game between
the two teams saw Hawks totally dominating and winning the game by 7-2 while playing at the United Center. Hawks kept hopes of a comeback alive with a win as it trails Canucks by 1-3 in the series.
Canucks is by no means the formidable team that it was during the course of the regular season.
Canucks not only has been weak in offence but its defence has been vulnerable on quite a few occasions. Hawks exploited this to the best in the last game and was all over Canucks in the game and scored goals every now and then to finish the game on a dominating
note.
Dave Bolland made a statement while he played in his return game. He missed over six weeks after sustaining a concussion, scoring a goal and ending his night with three assists that saw him scoring four points in a single game for the first time.
Hawks need to continue what it has done in the last game to win the series.
The margin at this time is not important as long as it can win. The Rogers Arena will surely give Hawks a tough time as it has ended up on the losing end while playing there on three out of four occasions.
"Not only did we need a win, but it was great to win big and prove a point", Hawks’ captain, Jonathan Toews, said after Game 4. "We wanted to go out there and play for each other and everything finally snowballed in our favor. It gives us a lot of confidence
going into Game 5. We're not looking forward to Game 6 or Game 7. The pressure is on them".
The thing that Canucks need is to concentrate on the job ahead. As long as it doesn’t win the series, it shouldn’t think about the semifinals.
This is going to hurt them even further if it doesn’t change the mentality as Hawks has some very talented players that can carry the entire weight of the team.
The interesting fact ahead of the game is that Hawks has scored seven goals for the second time during the season against Canucks and became the team to do so and win on both occasions.
The last time this happened was on the 20th of November 2010 when Hawks won by 7-1 against Vancouver Canucks.
"We're excited to play on home ice, in front of our fans and put out a really good game", Canucks’ centre, Ryan Kesler, said. "We're excited about this opportunity, we're in a good spot and we got to give them credit – they put their best game on the ice
last game and we got to respond now".
The players are high on confidence and looking forward to the game and hoping to win and make their way into the semi-finals.
